Illustrarium

The exhibition  Illustrarium: Contemporary Lithuanian Children's Book Illustration  presents 32 most outstanding illustrators of the recent decade and their works.  Image of the open book is chosen. The image is interpreted and focused on aesthetic - semantic aspects: lightness, brightness, mystery and playfulness.

Functional links are not limited, homogeneous space is created. Two main zones are designed: social space and illustration space. The main subject of the space is 21 m long, 4 m high white exposition wall. Every illustration has its own niche with little doors in this wall to avoid a huge amount of colorful visual information. The visitor becomes the creator of the main exposition, he / she is not a passive observer. There are niches in the wall for certain books for more detailed information. Visitor can explore illustrators works sitting on white plywood cubes - in social space that is created by the grid of cubes. This grid makes an imaginary boundary of Lithuanian exposition space.

Proportion of playfull elements, visual and textual information stimulates interest in exhibited artworks.
